There are some situations where aerial access is needed to carry out e.g. maintenance and building work of some kind. Scissor lifts are particularly useful where some heavier / bulkier materials need to be transported up to the site of the work e.g. pieces of board, cladding, tiles etc. They have a larger platform to allow for more working space and materials, and have a greater lifting capacity than e.g. cherry picker / boom style aerial access platforms. Although mainly vertically orientated, scissor lifts typically allow some deck / bridge extension. This makes them suitable and practical for a wide variety of jobs.
